Agriculture was started approximately 1000 decades ago with domestication of plants and animals at wild habitats by hunting for survival from hunger. With the development of civilization, Agriculture is the only source for mankind to get rid of hunger, to stay healthy, to earn money and thus agriculture became the back bone of the world. Agriculture was first started by the Egyptians and in India it was first started during Indus valley civilization period. Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan is named as the father of Indian Agriculture who transformed it through ‘Green Revolution which began in 1960’s which led to conversion of agriculture into modern industrial system by adoption of new technologies like HYV Seeds (High yielding varieties), inorganic fertilizers, pesticides and mechanized farm tools.                                             

                         At present we are at the advanced farming era by practicing various techniques in farming like AI, Robotic farming, Protected cultivation in poly house, Micro irrigation systems, precision farming, multi tire or layer farming and we are using advanced techniques in postharvest management of crops a value addition to increase their shelf life as part of food processing.
